IABC Asia Pacific equips communicators with masterclass on writing Gold Quill entries

Webinar on “Writing a Winning Gold Quill Entry” guides professionals on packaging communication programs to highlight communication excellence.

IABC APAC recently hosted an online learning session, “Writing a Winning Gold Quill Entry: Insights from the Evaluators,” designed to help communication professionals strengthen their submissions for the prestigious IABC Gold Quill Awards.

The 60-minute webinar brought together experienced Gold Quill evaluators Zora Artis, GAICD, IABC Fellow, SCMP, and Sujit Patil, ABC, Chief Communications Officer, Godrej Industries Group, with Liza Marie G. Vengco, ABC, Vice-President, Corporate Communication at RCBC and IABC APAC Awards & Recognition Director, serving as moderator.

Rather than focusing on creativity alone, the session emphasised that Gold Quill is fundamentally about strategic communication – work that starts with a clearly defined business need, is underpinned by research and stakeholder insight, and delivers measurable outcomes aligned to organisational goals.

Throughout the discussion, the speakers unpacked the IABC 7-Point Scale of Excellence, explaining what differentiates a “professionally competent” score of 4 from the “significantly better than average” level of 6 and above.

The participants were also encouraged to use the official Gold Quill how-to guides, work plan templates, rubrics and resources not only for their award entries but for their strategic communication playbook in their respective organizations.

The session reinforced IABC’s role as a global standard-bearer for ethical, effective and strategic communication, and highlighted the opportunity for communicators in Asia Pacific to benchmark their work against international best practice through Gold Quill.

A recording of the webinar is available on demand for IABC members, providing an ongoing resource for those preparing entries for the 2025–2026 Gold Quill Awards.
